According to the U.S. Department of Education, Children watch an average of 3 to 5 hours of television per day. This has a direct correlation to the decline of reading skills. As an educator you know the importance of reading and I’m sure you’re concerned.

The problem with our “MTV Society” is that kids don’t have the desire to sit down and read a good book. To be successful in life children must not only learn how to read but they must also learn to love to read.

Fortunately There Is Something That You Can Do To Help Instill A Desire And Passion For Reading…

My Name is Greg McAdams and I’m a Motivational Magician for children. I combine magic, storytelling, puppetry, and audience participation, with important educational themes to create memorable programs that have a lasting and positive impact on children.

My newest program, “I Love To Read”, is designed to teach children the joys of reading and the adventures that await them in the pages of a book. The goal of this program is to get children excited about reading so reading is not something they have to do but rather something they want to do.How and Why The “I Love To Read” show is So Effective At Educating Children

This program is 40 minutes long and has 5 important features:

Entertaining & Educational. Children learn to love to read with a combination of Entertainment and education, what I call “educainment”,is,in my opinion, the best way to teach children. Why? When kids are having fun and enjoying themselves they are much more receptive to the ideas and messages being presented. That makes sense, doesn’t it?

2. Magic. Kids love magic. They really enjoy watching it. Especially since the Harry Potter books have come out (yes they do make an appearance in my show). Magic is used to illustrate the key points so that when the children remember the magic trick they remember the message as well.

3. Puppetry. The highlight of my program is when I introduce my rabbit in the hat puppet, Malcolm. This is a very funny character that kids can identify with and, because they identify with him, they listen to him. Puppets make a great teaching tool and Malcolm is one of the best.

4. Storytelling. As I mentioned, my goal in this program is not only to get kids to read but get them to love to read and want to read. I discuss classic books, new books and let them know what some of their role models read.

5. Audience Interaction. As you know, kids don’t want to just sit and watch, they want to get involved and when they’re involved they’re learning. This high-energy program definitely gets the kids involved.
